8 Things About Me

Oh hey!

Welcome to my first post (eeek!)

This blog is an exciting, new journey in my life and I can’t wait to share it with you! I wanted to start off with a few fun facts about me. If you’ve got a problem with any of these, you should probably plan to find your Tomi fix elsewhere (instagram:@goodtomicha… wait, what?).

8. Forever 21 isn’t just an addiction. It’s a lifestyle. I’ve found that over 50% of my closet is from that magnificent store. What can I say? Their (cheap, but cute) clothes call to me. Sure you can walk in and suddenly find yourself in Narnia because of how large and disorganized it can be at times, but I’ve always walked away happy!

7. I don’t have a favorite music genre. Seriously! I can easily be listening to the “Les Miserables” soundtrack, hit shuffle, and switch to Vampire Weekend to Rascal Flatts and everything in between.

6. I treat bread like it’s the only food group that matters. Vegetables? What are those? In all honesty, I’ve had friends who have stayed with me for a few days and have never wanted to see another piece of bread again because my family fed them so much. We’re probably the sole reason that King’s Hawaiian Rolls are still in business. It’s made it hard for my #momoneymomuscle challenge for the summer, but I’ve pretty much accepted the fact that bread is my soulmate and we’re never breaking up.

5. I’m a hugggeeeee football fan. I mean their skills are so impressive! Evading 10 people as you dribble down a field? And don’t get me started with how nerve wracking it can be. I have two words for you: Penalty. Kicks. A little confused? I’m definitely talking about soccer. I grew up watching it with my family and have been a devoted fan ever since I discovered Cristiano Ronaldo’s Emporio Armani campaign. Now, I’m obsessed with the sport as a whole. My favorite teams are Real Madrid and Manchester United, arguably the best teams in soccer history. Don’t get me wrong. Of course I love American football, too! But nothing can beat watching something as exciting as the World Cup and seeing the national pride of all of those different countries.

4.  I’m a dirty f-word. It’s sad how this word has been misconstrued recently, but I’m proud to say that I am in fact a feminist. For the most part, this blog will be far from a platform for hot button issues. But I would hate for my belief in the equality of both genders to come as a surprise for you! (This is sarcasm, I’ll probably use this a lot).

3. West Coast (of Africa) Represent.  My parents immigrated from Nigeria (hence my funky name) in the 80’s and have lived here ever since. I was born in the U.S. but have plenty of family that still reside in Nigeria including two of my grandparents. It’s almost unbearably hot and of course we’re not perfect, no country is, but I am indisputably proud to say that I’m Nigerian.

2. “Not all those who wander are lost.” Traveling is very much a passion of mine. There are few things that get me more excited than that initial take off into the air and the anticipation of what you’ll get to experience when you land. I have a goal to visit every state and continent before I die and see as many countries as possible.

1. Psalm 121 and 2 Timothy 1:7.  I feel like they are constantly changing, but I would consider both of these to be my life verses. My mom had Psalm 121 in frames all over our house to always remind us that our Lord is watching  over and protecting us, even when we don’t think so. 2 Timothy 1:7 says that “God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline. Isn’t that empowering? It instantly makes me feel like this female warrior for Christ and gives me the courage to pursue anything intimidating (like this blog). If our God is for us, than who could ever stop us?

Well, there you have it. I hope you enjoyed these 8 facts about me. If you’ve known me a long time, I hope you learned something new! So stick around, continue browsing through my blog, and thanks for reading!
