If you follow me on the ‘gram, then you know there’s no shortage of pink outfits in my closet! My 8-year-old tomboy self would be gagging if she knew what I’d become. There’s definitely no shame in my colorful game! After scouring the city for pops of color, I stumbled across photos from the Coney Island Boardwalk and immediately added it to my New York City bucket list. My friends Hannah Goldstein (fellow blogger) and Cassidy Hopkins (my kick-ass photographer) joined for a full day of fun in the sun. I can’t wait to share the rest of the photos! Even though it took me close to 2 hours to get there, it was definitely worth it!

I found this pink summer dress on the sales rack at TJ Maxx for under $20. I wish I had done a few more twirls in the dressing room for me to realize the wind would not be my friend when I wore this! Ha. I’ve since added a few pins and now I’m good to go. Thankfully, I’ve linked up similar styles below where you won’t have to get as crafty as I did! Everything I’m wearing is under $50, so be sure to shop the styles in the widget below!

Ok, now for the fun updates!….

I just finished the internship of my dreams at INSIDER (I’ll share more on that experience later) and it dawned on me that I never shared what’s coming up next! In a previous post, I shared how I’ve always considered myself a businesswoman even when others were pushing me in other directions.  And while I have nothing but love for the city of New York and hope to return someday, it’s time for me to head back down south!

I’m elated to announce that I’ve been accepted into Clemson University’s MBA program for the fall.

Even as a little girl, I was always the nerd that loved school. Well, ok. I’ve always loved learning. Exams and homework? Not so much. Being surrounded by people of various backgrounds and openly discussing different issues is one of the best parts about the college/grad school experience. It’s no coincidence then why I also love New York so much. I’ll admit, like many post-graduates in their 20’s I questioned my decision to go to back to school so quickly after finishing undergrad. Personally, I enjoyed working, “in the real world” so much that if I didn’t go now, I never would have gone.

In business, there are a lot of different views on the importance of a master’s degree. The debates on finances, if an MBA is even necessary anymore, and the value of real-life work experience are never-ending. However, my life motto is “You can never be overdressed or overeducated.” *insert hair flip emoji here* So, why not be prepared for anything? As a black woman in a very aggressive industry, I would never want a lack of education to be a deciding factor in something that could hold me back from a job opportunity. I’m proud of my decision and I can’t wait to take this next step in my career.

While I will always be an Auburn Tiger, I guess now I can call myself a Clemson one too! Time to add a bit more purple to my wardrobe…

Greenville, South Carolina, here I come!

It is such a pretty dress and looks great on you! I used to always go crazy shopping whenever I was in the US including TJ Maxx. I was very excited when it recently opened in Australia.

Good for you. I think you made the correct decision. When it comes to education, tis better to have and not need than to need and not have. And you chose a great title for your blog post; it fits.

    Congratulations on pursuing your MBA!
I just graduated with my Master’s in May and it was a great experience.
I’ve already utilized the knowledge I learned with my relaunch and have seen so much success!
Also that dress looks absolutely flawless on you!
