Ultimate College Gift Guide

What do college kids want for christmas and birthdays? I've got all of your gift ideas right here.

Let the college kids rejoice! Thank goodness Christmas is almost here! I can’t wait to get back home, cuddle up with my Shih-Tzu, and spend some overdue time with my family. But as the holidays are getting closer, I’ve had many people reach out and ask what they should buy their college students for Christmas! I think it’s hilarious because out of all the categories, we’re probably the easiest to shop for. But I’ve put together some of my favorite picks that are all under $100! Make sure to keep checking back all throughout December to see more ideas!

Ultimate College Gift Guide:

  1. Noise Canceling Headphones– You won’t really get that they’re a necessity until you’re in a library or dorm that’s disrespecting the fact that you have 2 papers and 4 exams this week. These headphones also have Bluetooth capabilities so you won’t even need to plug them in! A solid pair of headphones is a must-have for students.

2. Money– While it may be obvious, college students are broke. We need money for books, rent, or even a random trip with friends. Personally, no matter how well I seem to budget I always find that I could use a couple of extra bucks. Plus, we’re never going to be upset that you gave us money. Send money to the “cash” app or feel free to slide a few bills into our stockings this Christmas.

3. Cards Against Humanity– This is probably the funniest card game I’ve ever played and instantly become the hit of the party when I bring it! But if you’re a parent buying this…Don’t open up the box. Just get it for us. I promise it’s better this way.

4. College Swag– Anything with our school logo makes a great present for college kids. It’s even better when it’s something practical like this great everyday watch from Jack Mason. This particular style is actually $115, making it the only item on this list over $100. However, you can find a bunch of different collegiate options online for gifts like jerseys or bags for less than that.

5. Mini Keurig System– Unlike many students, I’m one of the few people in college who doesn’t drink coffee. The smell is amazing but I’ve just never been a fan (hot chocolate lovers of the world, let’s be friends). If your student is in the majority, this Keurig is perfect for them. Its size makes it perfect to fit in small dorm or apartment spaces, but keep in mind it might not make enough for you if you’re an avid coffee drinker. If you’re not into Keurigs, coffee makers still make gifts and will save them from spending too much money in Starbucks next semester.

6. Netflix– It’s our favorite way to procrastinate! Yes, I’m currently addicted to “Master of None” and shirking my responsibilities, but along with the love of Christ, it’s the only thing keeping me sane during finals. Hulu Plus and Amazon Fire are other great streaming services if you’re looking into other options.

7. Duck Boots– There is nothing worse than trudging through campus in the rain. Especially when you’re running late 90% of the time like myself (sorry mom and dad). I have a rain jacket and an umbrella, but sometimes that just doesn’t cut it. I love my hunter boots, but they’re a bit heavier than I would like when you’re walking around all day. Duck boots are a great alternative and work just as well.

8. Fujifilm Instax Mini Polaroid –  I love this camera and I can’t say it enough!!! I got mine for my birthday and have used it countless times since then. It’s perfect to bring it out for birthday parties, trips, or when I had Friendsgiving.  It’s a great way to preserve college memories and doubles as a way to decorate your room too. The film doesn’t come with the camera, but if you buy it in bulk it’s cheaper!

9. Portable Phone Charger– You’d think we’d be the demographic that would use these the most, but I’ve seen more adults carrying these around in the past few months! They’re compact and ideal to keep in your book bag or car whenever you need that extra battery boost. And when they’re less than $15, they’re great stocking stuffers for the whole family!

Anything you get a college student, we’re going to love simply because it’s free. I should know, I’m one of them. So whether you shop straight from this list or try your own picks, we’ll appreciate it! I’d love to know what you guys want for Christmas, so please feel free to leave your ideas in the comments below!
