What is Galentines Day? If you’re a fan of Parks and Rec, you’re very familiar with the holiday created by Amy Poehler’s character, ‘Leslie Knope’. It’s a day where you can kick back and relax or go out and enjoy a night on the town with your girls. Let’s be honest, relationships can end but friendships are supposed to be forever, right? It’s pretty much your duty to honor them with a celebration once a year! Now guys, you can definitely have a friend night too (bro-entines?) but I’m chatting specifically with my ladies on this one. I loved collaborating with my fellow Auburn fashion bloggers and friends, Mary Peyton Deer and Binh Nguyen! Make sure you check them out! To help you plan the perfect day you just need to remember this simple acronym: WOMEN!
Wine is not a suggestion, it’s a necessity. Are you a cupcake wine drinker or more of a girl who goes for a sophisticated Merlot? There are no judgments on Galentine’s Day.
Organize a theme for your day of shenanigans. Exchange gifts and plan a fun trip to a city like Nashville or New Orleans with plenty of exciting things to do! Want to save money? Have a pajama party and create a homemade brunch with mimosas galore!
Make memories. They’re bound to happen anyway when you’re hanging out with your girl tribe. See that golden doodle up above? I randomly stopped her owner to take a picture with the cute puppy only to wrestle with her for a long and awkward 5 minutes to get this photo. Worth it. Capture your picture-perfect moments with this cute portable Polaroid or get Instagram ready with a hashtag for the day! #ovariesbeforebrovaries? #uterusbeforeduderus? The possibilities are endless.
Eat anything and everything you want. Refer back to my first point. There are no judgments on Galentine’s Day. Want to eat cupcakes before 10 AM like my friends and I did? Who’s stopping you?! They don’t want you to eat sweets before noon (insert major key emoji).
No men allowed. Don’t be that girl. This is a time to hang with friends and truly appreciate all the fun you have together!
However you choose to celebrate Galentine’s Day, I’m sure it will make Leslie Knope proud! Add your own ideas for this special day below.
