Hydrafacial- Is it Worth It? // May Beauty Favorites

The Hydrafacial is supposed to be one of the most effective facials for acne. I'm sharing my experience at Organic Tan Face and Body in Greenville, SC, my results, and if it's worth it on the blog!

HydraFacial:

I visited Organic Tan Face and Body in Greenville, South Carolina for my first ever Hydrafacial experience! If you follow my insta stories, I shared how I’m a self-proclaimed “spa expert”. My mom is a physician that focuses on anti-aging medicine, so I’ve been fortunate enough to grow up learning about all of the latest procedures. When Lindsay (spa owner and fellow Greenville blogger) reached out to me to try the hydrafacial, I was so excited! So, what IS a hydrafacial? It’s essentially a non-invasive, facial procedure that gently exfoliates, cleanses, extracts, and hydrates the skin. Needless to say, I was intrigued!

Depending on which hydrafacial you receive, the benefits vary. I’ve been dealing with some reoccurring acne problems recently so I stuck with the signature Hydrafacial. I mean seriously, how dare acne come back after high school. Haven’t we suffered enough? I was all for trying something new to kickstart my skin into Lupita N’yongo perfection for the summer. The machine is very similar to a microdermabrasion in which it has a handheld tool that gently glides over your face to exfoliate, extract and (duh) hydrate the skin.

At the end of the service, you get to see all of the disgusting goodness that was just sucked out of your face and let me tell you… It’s oddly satisfying! It’s not on the Dr. Pimple Popper level but a solid 8/10. I’m totally crossing my fingers so I don’t jinx myself right now, but I haven’t had a single breakout since my service 4 weeks ago!

My final thoughts:

In addition to an updated skincare routine (including this mask from Glo Skin Beauty), my skin hasn’t looked this good in months! If you’re in Greenville, I’d definitely check it out. However, you can find this service in most med spas! This is definitely something to consider for those who struggle with their skin like me. I’m thinking of making this a quarterly thing to refresh my skin every few months! My entire experience is on my Instagram highlights under the beauty tab if you’d like to see it in real time. If you’ve tried the Hydrafacial, let me know below!

before and after. LOOK AT THAT GLOW PEOPLE! *first picture only edited because the room was so dark.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water-Gel Cream:

I started using this cream after my favorite YouTuber (@jackieaina) suggested it. My regular moisturizer from Eminence was on back order so I decided to check it out. Guys. I. Am. Hooked! It’s 1/3 of the cost than my high-end spa product moisturizer and it’s perfect if you have oily/combination skin like I do. Now, I don’t have to only order online. You can grab this from Target, WalMart, etc. You can use this version of the Neutrogena cream if you have dry skin.

June Jacobs Cucumber Toner:

If you’re acne prone and looking for a change to your current skincare routine, I’ve been trying a couple of new products that have been brightening and rejuvenating my skin. However, a toner should always be a part of your routine. This cucumber-infused product by June Jacobs is a medical spa favorite. I’ve really been noticing a difference in congested areas like my nose and chin!

Nature’s Bounty: Hair, Skin, Nails Vitamins:

No, this is not #sponsored. My love for these vitamins again came from the recommendation of Jackie! (Maybe you guys should just follow her and fall in love too lol) My nails have always grown pretty quickly, but they’re definitely stronger now. My hair has always been thick but I’ve been hoping that they’ll make my hair longer, too! For now, I’ll accept 2/3 and update you if I see any changes. If you have a fave hair vitamin, let me know below!

Benefit Goof Proof Brow:

Brows are the window to the soul. People say it’s eyes but let’s be honest. I can tell a lot more about a person by their brow game than their pupils! Which is why I always like to make sure they’re always on point. Even after getting my eyebrows tinted, I still loved the look of this pencil more! Benefit has the some of the best brow products in the biz, but my favorite has to be goof-proof brow pencil! The pencil is a bit wider than your average product which makes it easier to fill them in.  Through sweat, swimming, and all day photo shoots, these stay put!

Your skin looks incredible! I’ve got a gift certificate to my local medi-spa burning a hole in my pocket, so I just might have to check out getting a hydra facial!

We share so many favorites! I have combo/oily skin too. Since you loved the Neutrogena Hydro Boost, I bet you’ll also love the Garnier SkinActive Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream. It’s soooo good and even MORE affordable ($8.99 at Ulta, and still 1.7 oz like the Neutrogena one)!
